About us
Yamada Translation Bureau Inc (Y.T.B.) was founded in 1967 in Osaka, Japan and has now celebrated 50 years in the translation industry. The company was founded by Mr Yamada (Snr) who started the business by translating manuals for use in international industrial plants. Soon after he began to concentrate more on documents for the pharmaceutical industry, which led to a rapid expansion and the acquisition of new corporate offices in both Osaka and Tokyo. Ownership of the company has now passed on to the current president, Mr Yamada’s son Ryukichi, but the core values have remained the same. Now Y.T.B. has become one of the most established translation bureaus in Japan. Global Expansion Of course we realize that the market is ever changing and now more than ever companies are looking for ease of access globally to satisfy all of their translation needs. So in line with our 50th anniversary we have set up a new branch in Europe to cater for Western clients who deal with the Far East on a regular basis. We an therefore capitalize on the time zone difference when speed is of the essence, which enhances our overall ability to cater to our clients' needs. Our approach to business, which has always been based on Japanese standards of efficiency and service and we pride ourselves on providing all documents with 100% accuracy within the allotted time. Specialist Service We are not a company that provides a one stop solution for every possible translation or interpreting requirement. In fact we are quite the opposite, we concentrate on our core business – and excel in that capacity. For long term regular customers we usually assign an individual project manager as the head of a specialist team who concentrate solely on the requirements of that company. Attention to Detail Perhaps the best way to describe our approach is to quote a story from Rolls Royce. It is well known that it takes decades of engineering excellence to produce a car as perfect as a Rolls Royce. At each step of the build process every minor detail is checked until the end product is reached. Before sending the finished vehicle to the customer, a final test run is undertaken by a test engineer. He takes the car for a spin with a retail customer as a passenger, to get feedback from a customer point of view. As the two set off for a ride through the country roads and then on into the city center, the passenger remarks on the incredible smoothness of the ride, the power of acceleration, the positive steering and the amazing quietness of the engine. At one point he comments that inside the car, even in city traffic, it is so quiet that the only thing he can hear is the ticking of the clock. The Rolls Royce engineer turns to him and says “we really must do something about that clock.” Demand for Perfection The Japanese marketplace prides itself on its demands for perfection. Many companies advertise their products as the No 1 in their field, as they understand they need to provide the highest standards to their discerning customers. Only perfection is good enough in Japan. This is even more vital in the field of translation. It has been found by many Western companies that Japanese Government regulations and standards often delay a product launch. It is not unheard of for a product launch to be delayed by up to five years because of quality standard requirements. This potential delay in order to satisfy regulations can be considerably reduced if the documents are presented in the exact format required from the outset. This requires more than just translation. It requires market awareness, coupled with the experience of knowing what is required and how it needs to be presented. Market Knowledge Over the past 50 years YTB has developed an intrinsic understanding of this process. We don’t just translate! Our editing service adds our experience to the product. This cannot be achieved by CAT tools or machine translation, it requires human beings with thorough knowledge of the market place. YTB has always operated on and understood this principle and instigates this in all stages of translation. Just like Rolls Royce, we make sure your product will have the fastest route and most accurate route.. The process is so seamless you won’t even hear the clock ticking. Call or mail us for any of your translation requirements. We will be happy to provide a free quotation by return.
