How much does it cost?

The cost of translation varies depending on the subject matter, quantity, and delivery date. We quote the cost of translation free of charge. Please feel free to inquire. The document submitted to us for quotation is treated no different than any other document we receive as a job for confidentiality purposes.
 

How long does it take?

The time required for translation varies depending on the subject matter and the quantity of the document. We can estimate how long it takes when we quote the cost. Please feel free to inquire. For your information, general ideas about how long our translation takes are as shown below.

Japanese to English
When the content is 4,000-4,500 Japanese characters (10 English pages per our billing page count), it takes about a week.

English to Japanese
When the content is 1,700 – 2,000 English words (10 Japanese pages per our billing page count), it takes about a week.

Our billing page is counted in the target language.
The definition of our billing page is as follows:

Japanese to English 22 lines of 55 characters each
English to Japanese A page equivalent to a 400-character manuscript pad

When a document must be translated in a hurry, please let us know. We will do all we can to deliver it when you need it.
 

How do I order?

Please call or email us to make an inquiry. If you email or fax us your document, we will be able to tell you how much it costs and how long it takes. We start translating your document only after your approval. We generally deliver the translated document via email. If you like, we can post or ship it to you. In that case, you will receive your document the number of days postal or shipping service takes after the completion of translation.
 

What are the backgrounds of the translators and editors?

Our translators and editors are well qualified and have relevant experience in the fields of the documents they translate. We cannot disclose their names or personal history due to our privacy policy, but we can give you a summary of their education and job experience. Please feel free to inquire.
 

What languages can be translated?

We can translate most languages. Please make an inquiry about whether we can handle the languages you need.
 

What software can be handled?

We use software products such as Microsoft, Adobe (including Macromedia), Quark, and AutoDesk. We can also handle non-Japanese versions of applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop (i.e., English and Chinese versions of Microsoft Office).
 

Can you deliver the data in a print-ready format?

Yes, we can deliver the data in a print-ready format. If you want us prepare page layouts ready to print, we can make it to the specifications required for printing. We can print on film, process bookbinding, make data CDs, and prepare data CD contents. All these services can be ordered individually or combined with other services.
 

Can you explain about your confidentiality policy?

We will take the utmost care in handling the documents we receive from you, whether they are hardcopy or electronic data. Both our in-house staff members and translators understand our confidentiality obligation, and we will not disclose information. We can also conclude confidentiality agreements upon your request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
 

Can an original layout be recreated?

Yes, it can. For an additional charge, we can recreate the layout of the original document. Please let us know if you would like us to do so. The price differs depending on whether you can provide us with the original data or not.
 

Can you handle specialized areas or fields?

Yes, we can. Our translators and editors have expertise in their fields. Your document will be assigned to a translator with relevant expertise, and your satisfaction with the translation is guaranteed.
 

Can I ask for the same translator again?

Yes, you can. There may be times when such translator is assigned to some other work and cannot work immediately on your translation, or we may need to ask you for more time. If you know when a project is coming up, it is a good idea to let us know in advance so that we can arrange to have your translator ready for your project. Even if we cannot assign the same translator, we will assign a translator with expertise in the field. Please feel free to make an inquiry.
 

If the document has been revised, is there any chance that the part already translated is charged for again?

Please tell us to translate the parts revised, and we will translate the revised parts only. If you want us to find the revised parts, we may need to charge you for the additional work. Whether we must charge and how much we charge depends on the extent of the revision, so please feel free to make an inquiry.
 

Do you verify and check translated documents internally?

Our in-house staff members check and read translated documents on screen and on hardcopy. They take in-house seminars and on-the-job training to keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
 

If I revise the translated document, can you translate the parts revised?

If the revisions are not many, we will change for the translated document according to the revisions free of charge. If not, we will need to charge for the revisions. Please let us know in advance if revisions are expected. We can quote our price, including the expected revisions, which is less than handling revisions afterwards.
